Over the next few months, the City of Willamina will begin the preliminary investigation and engineering work for emergency repairs to the Willamina Creek bank, which is adjacent to Hampton Park. Park goers will see additional activity associated with this work, including topographic surveying, wetland and waterway delineation, and geotechnical explorations.
Project Details
The geotechnical field work will require a drill rig to bore a hole into the subsurface and characterize soil beneath the site. Groundwater levels will also be monitored to assess different causes of erosion and help identify potential engineering solutions. This work will be completed along the creek bank and within the closed portion of the park. The City asks that park goers avoid these areas during active field work.
This project will be completed in phases. A grant from Business Oregon is funding this first phase and will develop a conceptual design for the repairs. The second phase, funded by the Oregon Legislature through Business Oregon, will include final design and construction should funds allow. The City currently anticipates that construction will occur in late 2024 through 2025. The City intends to share more information as it becomes available.
